Michael Jordan

Michael Jordan, born February 17, 1963, is perhaps one of the greatest basketball players that ever lived. He went to Laney high school in Wilmington, North Carolina. From there, he made his way to the University of North Carolina. He was drafted by the Chicago Bulls in 1984, and retired in 1993. Two years later, he was activated from retirement, and retired again in 1999. Yet again, he was called back from retirement to play for the Washington Wizards for one season. He is still known as Mike, Air Jordan, M.J., His Airness, Money, and many other nicknames.

  •   When Jordan retired from basketball, he played baseball in the minor leagues for a short period. He played for the Birmingham Barons.
  • In tenth grade, Jordan tried out for the basketball team at Laney, but did not make the team.
  • On Valentine's Day, 1990, Jordan's jersey was stolen from the locker room. They never found it, and Jordan had to wear the number 12 jersey until they got a new jersey for him.
