Earvin "Magic" Johnson 
        Earvin "Magic" Johnson was born on August 14, 1959 in Lansing, Michigan. He attended Everett high School in Lansing. He then went on to play at Michigan State university. He was one of the top recruits for basketball and was recruited by schools such as Indiana and UCLA. He was 6' 9" tall and played point guard his entire life. He was drafted first overall in 1979 by the Los Angeles Lakers. He played with them for 13 seasons until his retirement in 1996. He won 5 championships in 1980, 1982, 1985, 1987, and 1988. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2002.

  • He earned his nickname "Magic" in a Sophomore basketball game which he gained 36 points, 18 rebounds, and 16 assists.
  • The Lakers won the right to select Magic in the draft after the Chicago Bulls lost a coin toss.
  • He is the only rookie to win the NBA Finals MVP Award.
  • He was supposed to go to an all black school instead of Everett High School which was all white.
  • He is one of seven players to win an NBA championship, an NCAA National Championship, and an Olympic Gold Medal.
  • He has his own arcade game called "Magic Johnson Fast break" made by Acadia Games.
  • He had a rivalry with fellow Hall of Famer, Larry Bird, which began in College. They became friends during a Converse Shoe commercial.
