Charles Barkley

Charles Barkley was born in 1963 on February 20th. Charles had always loved basketball. He became very proficient at it at his high school in Alabama. Charles then went to Auburn University where his ferocity as a Power Forward led his team to victory many times. He became the "Round Mound of Rebound" to all his fans. He was the Southeastern Conference player of the year in 1984, and after three years of college, he said he was ready to go to the NBA. He was the fifth player to be drafted in the 1984 NBA Draft. His first year he played, the Philadelphia 76ers went to the Eastern Semifinals. In 1992, Charles joined the the U.S.A. Olympic team otherwise known as the "Dream Team". After the Olympics, he was sent to the Phoenix Suns to play. In 1993, the Phoenix Suns advanced to the NBA Championships. There they faced Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. The Suns lost in game six. The next year during a team practice, Charles had an injury. He announced his retirement, but continued to play until 1996. he was traded to the Houston Rockets and played the rest of his career there. He is now working for the NBA as an analyst. He scored more than 20,000 points in his career. He also had more than 10,000 rebounds and more than 4,000 assists.

Interesting facts: He was named one of the 50 greatest basketball players of all time in 1996.
                             He was introduced to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006.
                             His other nicknames were "Sir Charles" and "Crisco Kid".
                             He talks on popular sport channels on a regular basis.
                             Even though he is a Hall of Fame Player, he never won the NBA Championships
